Amigurumi Rabbit

Image
Usually, I'm all about finding free patterns online, but there was something about the rabbit pattern on KatyMimiToys' Etsy shop that caught my eye. The pattern is called Crochet Pattern Realistic Mini Bunny Rabbit Amigurumi English PDF Tutorial which is an insane pattern name but pretty standard for Etsy. Despite its algorithm-driven name, the pattern was interesting due to its more realistic animal design rather than the run-of-the-mill anthropomorphic style you see every day. I was already making a few crochet toys for the children of visiting friends and I thought this bunny would be a nice addition. It only took a few hours to make and turned out really cute. The designer put a lot of effort into the pattern, providing clear instructions, photos, and video tutorials. I'd call it an intermediate-level pattern, as beginners might stumble a bit—especially with the directional changes and method of joining the front legs through crocheting rather than sewing. Inktober

Image
Autumn is here, and with it comes Inktober! The annual art challenge that helps develop consistent drawing habits. Throughout October, artists of every skill level commit to making one ink drawing per day. If you're lacking inspiration; the official Inktober website offers daily prompts and other helpful resources. I've decided to just do 1 minute sketch and ink drawings rather than spend an hour or more making Instagrammable works of art. I’ll be updating this post every now and then to add some of my little drawings. I'm not going to put them all, just a few that spark joy. My poor sewing machine that passed away this month.   Derpy Balrog. Unwise Wizard. Surprise! It's a mimic.   Halloween vibes. I know that Inktober isn't supposed to be Halloween themed but I can't help it. I keep watching spooky movies all month.

Sometimes I get tired of searching for the perfect fabric for a project. All I wanted was a Halloween fabric with a ghostly cemetery nature vibe, yet most options I found were either cartoonish or downright tacky. Frustrated with the limited choices, I decided to create my own custom fabric. While there are several websites that offer fabric printing services, I had a less-than-stellar experience with Spoonflower in the past. This time, I did my research and read about Raspberry Creek Fabrics. So, I thought I would try them out and make a review. Designing My Fabric First, I created my own Spooky fabric design in photoshop, in a repeating pattern of course. It was quick and easy to upload the design onto Raspberry Creek Fabrics' website. I even made the design available for public purchase, in case anyone else liked it. I created two versions of my whimsical ghost fabric: one in pink and one in orange. The orange design, named "Haunted Flowers," is featured at the top of...
