My Finished Library Book Curse

Finally! After an unfortunate delay (dental emergency) my book curse cross stitch is finished. I’m very happy with how well it turned out. When the fabric is pinned the words line up so neatly and it looks absolutely perfect. I can’t wait to frame it. I only wish I had a camera that could capture how well the gold sparkles in the light. Right now I'm using an ancient camera phone which is not ideal. I’ll try to take some better photos later but for now I’ve made the pattern available in my Etsy shop. Onward and forward to the next project!

Writing Your Own Children’s Book

  During of the great Covid lockdown of 2020, I decided to write a children’s book to pass the time. My inspiration came from a childhood memory involving a confusing Christmas gift from my grandmother. She had gifted me a bicycle tire pump. As I tore through the wrapping paper I got really excited believing there must also be a bicycle hidden somewhere nearby. I searched the house high and low but it turned out it was all just a misunderstanding. Grandma was simply unaware I didn’t have a bicycle, and had no need for a tire pump. I’m sure many can recall a time of receiving a similar mismatched gift during birthdays or holidays. I thought it would be fun to write a story where all those strange gifts turn out to be unexpectedly useful after all. The story came together relatively quickly. Curious Christmas Mice

For Christmas this year I decided to crochet for my friends and family tiny magical mice that mimic LA Burdick's Signature Chocolate Mice . If you haven’t seen this chocolate shop’s famous mice I highly encourage looking them up, they are adorable and delicious. To make my Christmas gifts I scoured Ravelry for a mouse pattern and quickly found Lucy Collin's Little Kissing Mice Amigurumi . The mice were undeniably cute, but the proportions weren't right for this project. The face and body were too long to match LA Burdick’s mice and they were much larger than what I had in mind. In the end I had to make my own pattern through the process of trial and error to get the dimensions just right. Overall, I’m happy with how my pattern turned out. My mice are small and short, with tiny faces that match LA Burdick’s chocolate mice pretty well.
